Chris Pine will lend his voice to the audiobook edition of Reese Witherspoon and Harlan Coben’s Gone Before Goodbye.
Grand Central Publishing and Hachette Audio announced the actor’s casting in a news release. Witherspoon and Coben’s novel, set for publication next month, follows Maggie McCabe, a military combat surgeon who loses her medical license after a series of tragic events. She then takes a job working for a plastic surgeon with an anonymous clientele and then goes on the run after one of her patients disappears.
Witherspoon will narrate the audiobook and star as Maggie, while Pine, known for his work in films including Star Trek and Wonder Woman, will play Maggie’s husband, Marc. The cast is rounded out by Saskia Maarleveld, Peter Ganim, Suehyla El-Attar Young, Kiff VandenHeuvel, and James Fouhey.
Witherspoon said in a statement, “Bringing Gone Before Goodbye to life as an audiobook has truly been a labor of love for me. I’m so proud of the one-of-a-kind recording we created—with every detail carefully chosen to make this story feel special. I can’t wait for you to hear the incredible cast and get swept away by all the twists and turns. I hope you love listening as much as we loved making it.”
The print and audiobook editions of Gone Before Goodbye are scheduled for publication on October 14.
