Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code will be adapted as an immersive experience, Deadline reports.
Brown’s bestselling thriller, published in 2003 by Doubleday, follows symbologist Robert Langdon as he tries to find the murderer of a Louvre curator whose body was covered in bizarre symbols. A critic for Kirkus called the book “bulky, balky, talky.”
The book was adapted into a 2006 film, directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks as Langdon. Hanks returned as Langdon in the films based on Brown’s Angels and Demons and Inferno.
The Da Vinci Code immersive event will be developed by the author and artist Massimiliano Siccardi. Siccardi is the creator of Van Gogh Immersive, a touring exhibition based on the Dutch painter’s artwork that features projected images and virtual reality.
Siccardi told Deadline that the Da Vinci Code experience will be “a journey through the mind of Leonardo—his inventions, his obsessions, his brilliance—and the unveiling of Da Vinci works the world has never seen. I’m incredibly excited about this collaboration with Dan Brown; our relationship has already proven to be positively rewarding, exciting, and creatively sophisticated. With this team, I am certain that we will produce outstanding in-person immersive exhibits the world has yet to experience.”
And Brown said, “The visceral power of immersive experiences has always fascinated and moved me, and I’m beyond excited to be developing this project with the legendary artist Massimiliano Siccardi.”
