Interview With the Vampire is getting a new name for its third season, Deadline reports.

The AMC series, based on Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles novels, will now be called The Vampire Lestat, after the series’ second book. The novels and television show focus on Louis de Pointe du Lac, a mortal man who becomes a vampire after meeting Lestat de Lioncourt, a rock singer, nobleman, and vampire. Kirkus’ David Rapp named the first season of the show one of the best literary adaptations of 2022.

Louis is played by Jacob Anderson and Lestat by Sam Reid; other cast members include Delainey Hayles, Assad Zaman, and Eric Bogosian. Joining the cast for the third season are Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty), Ella Ballentine (The Monster), Christopher Heyerdahl (Van Helsing), Damien Atkins (Take This Waltz), and Jeanine Serralles (Inside Llewyn Davis). Among the executive producers are the late Rice and her son, Christopher Rice.

AMC released a sneak-peek video of the third season, which starts with footage of Reid as Lestat on stage with his band. “In season 3, Lestat’s living a rock-star life in its most hedonistic, authentic way,” Reid says. “Right now, he wants to be completely engulfed in the music. It lights a fire in him.”

The Vampire Lestat is scheduled to premiere next year.
