U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will take on the wealthy ruling class in a new book.

Crown will publish the Vermont independent’s Fight Oligarchy next month, the press announced in a news release. The book, the publisher says, “breaks down the unprecedented crises we face today in Trump’s America, as Trump undermines democracy at every turn—and how we can effectively fight back.”

Sanders, one of the country’s leading progressive voices, was elected to the U.S. House from Vermont in 1990 and served in the role for 16 years. He has served as a U.S. senator from the state since 2007. He sought the Democratic nomination for president in 2016 and 2020, losing to Hillary Rodham Clinton and Joe Biden, respectively.

He is the author of several previous books, including Our Revolution, Where We Go From Here, and It’s OK To Be Angry About Capitalism, co-written with John Nichols.

His new book is inspired by his Fighting Oligarchy tour, which began in February and saw him paired with U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, another prominent voice in the U.S. progressive movement.

“We live in an unprecedented moment in American history as we confront oligarchy, authoritarianism, kleptocracy and a savage attack on the needs of the working class—60% of whom are living paycheck to paycheck,” Sanders said in a statement. “My hope in writing this short book is to help provide Americans with a better understanding of the crises we face and how we can effectively fight back against Trumpism and his demagoguery. The oligarchs may have extraordinary wealth and power but, if we stand together and not let them divide us, we can defeat them and create a government and economy that works for all, not just the few.”

Fight Oligarchy is scheduled for publication on October 21.
