Michelle Obama will explore her personal philosophy of style and beauty in a book coming later this year.

Crown will publish the former first lady’s The Look, co-written with her stylist, Meredith Koop, in the fall, the press announced in a news release. It calls the book, which features more than 200 photos and a foreword by author Farah Jasmine Griffin, “a stunning journey through Michelle Obama’s style evolution, in her own words for the first time.”

Obama was known for a strong sense of personal style during her time as first lady, wearing clothes by groundbreaking designers such as Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu, Carolina Herrera, and Vera Wang. “First and foremost, I wear what I love,” she told Vogue in 2009. “That’s what women have to focus on: what makes them happy and what makes them feel comfortable and beautiful. If I can have any impact, I want women to feel good about themselves and have fun with fashion.”

In her book, Crown says, Obama “explores the joy and the purpose of fashion and beauty and how—when wielded with grace and care—they can uplift and affirm the values one holds most dear. Confidence, she concludes, cannot be put on. But when you’re wearing something that’s intentional or beloved, clothing can make you feel like the best version of yourself.”

Obama’s previous books include a memoir, Becoming, which was the bestselling book of 2018 in the U.S., and an inspirational nonfiction book, The Light We Carry.

Obama shared the news of her new book on Instagram, writing, “It’s a reflection on my lifelong journey with fashion, hair, and beauty. Inside, you’ll find some of the outfits that have meant the most to me, but more importantly, the moments that I lived through in them—big and small, personal and political, historic and ordinary—that were as memorable as the clothes themselves.”

The Look is slated for publication on November 4.
