Christina Applegate will tell the story of her life and career in a new memoir.

Little, Brown will publish the actor’s You With the Sad Eyes next year, the press announced in a news release. The press says the book “illuminates the life of a childhood star, turned iconic comedic actress, turned tenacious example of how to find the beauty in our messy lives.”

Applegate first rose to prominence for her role in the Fox sitcom Married... With Children, and went on to star in films, including Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, The Sweetest Thing, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Most recently, she acted in the dark comedy series Dead to Me; she was nominated for three Emmy Awards for her performance.

In 2021, she announced that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and that she would likely no longer do any more on-camera acting.

Applegate’s book, Little, Brown says, “boldly presents a formidable woman who has had to let go of her acting career, her ability to dance, her physical power and former sense of self, but has always fought to find a new and even more fulfilling way of being.”

In a statement, Applegate said, “It’s scary—not gonna lie—to finally decide to tell it all. But no matter how dark it gets, I wrote this because I truly believe that books can make people feel less alone. I promise, You With the Sad Eyes won’t be some big violin scratching for my life. But it will be real. It will be filled with the ups and downs, the humor and grief of life. So here I am. Real me. Lots to say.”

You With the Sad Eyes is scheduled for publication on March 3, 2026.
