Colleen Hoover is coming out with a new novel next year.
Amazon’s Montlake imprint will publish the phenomenally popular author’s Woman Down in the winter, the company announced in a news release. It describes the book as a “twisty thriller.”
Hoover made her publishing debut in 2012 with the romance novel Slammed, following that up with two sequels, Point of Retreat and This Girl. She published the novel It Ends With Us in 2016; the novel sold well but became a huge hit in 2021 after it was embraced by readers on the social media platform TikTok.
TikTok users helped make several of her previous and her new ones massive bestsellers, too. A film based on It Ends With Us, directed by Justin Baldoni and starring Baldoni and Blake Lively, was released last year and was a box-office hit. The film stirred controversy after Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and filed a lawsuit against him; Baldoni countersued Lively for defamation.
Hoover’s new novel follows Petra Rose, an author reeling from viral backlash against a film adaptation of one of her books. She goes to a cabin, hoping to find inspiration for her next book, and is visited by a detective bearing bad news.
Hoover announced news of the new novel in a video on Amazon’s TikTok account. “I’m so excited to say that I am the author of a new book called Woman Down. It is a thriller, probably one of the darkest books I’ve written so far.…I just want to say a quick thank you for being so patient and supportive. This one took me a while to finally get another book out for you, but I’m excited for you guys to read it.”
Woman Down is slated for publication on January 13, 2026.
