The film adaptation of Warren Zanes’ Deliver Me From Nowhere will premiere at the New York Film Festival, Variety reports.

Zanes’ book, published in 2023 by Crown, is an account of the recording of Bruce Springsteen’s seminal, stripped-down 1982 album Nebraska, now considered one of the most iconic albums in rock history. A critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “Even those who aren’t convinced that Nebraska is Springsteen at his best will hear it with fresh ears.”

The film adaptation of the book, titled Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, is written and directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Antlers), and stars Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as Springsteen. Other cast members include Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, and Stephen Graham.

In June, 20th Century Studios released a trailer for the film, featuring scenes of White playing the title track from Nebraska in a bedroom. The trailer ends with White singing the hit single “Born To Run” accompanied by actors playing Springsteen’s E Street Band.

The film will premiere on September 28 at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. Springsteen is scheduled to attend.

Cooper said, “The New York Film Festival has always felt like a spiritual home for the kind of cinema I believe in. To now arrive with a film about Bruce Springsteen—an artist whose music shaped not just a country but my own sense of storytelling—is something I could never have imagined. Getting to know Bruce, to explore his world and his spirit, has been one of the most profound creative experiences of my life. To share that experience with New York audiences, in a city that defines artistic possibility, is both an honor and a responsibility I hold with deep gratitude.”

Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere will open in theaters nationwide on Oct. 24.
