Rebecca Yarros’ The Things We Leave Unfinished is headed to the big screen, Deadline reports.

Yarros’ novel, published in 2021 by Entangled, follows Georgia Stanton, a woman who moves to her late grand-grandmother’s estate in Colorado after a messy divorce. There she meets Noah Harrison, a romance author who wants to complete her great-grandmother’s unfinished novel. A critic for Kirkus called the book “a charming dual-timeline romance about learning from past mistakes.”

Lionsgate is developing the novel as a film, with Arash Amel (Grace of Monaco, A Private War) writing the screenplay. He and Yarros will be among the film’s executive producers.

The Things We Leave Unfinished is one of three screen adaptations in the works that are based on Yarros’ novels. Her blockbuster romantasy novel Fourth Wing is being developed as a series for Amazon, and Netflix is planning a film based on In the Likely Event.

Yarros shared news of the Things We Leave Unfinished adaptation on Instagram, writing, “Out of all the books I’ve written, this one is my absolute favorite and it’s in spectacular hands with the talented @thearashamel in the writer’s chair! I couldn’t be more thankful for his enthusiasm and respect for the story you all love! He’s championed this adaptation from the beginning and is such a gem!”
